White Sneaker Fridays

H&M Coat, Gap Coated Denim, Saucony Sneakers

On Fridays, white sneakers are a part of my university's uniform for my particular program. Being lazy as I am, I didn't want to bring a second pair of shoes and carry them all day - hence, white sneaker Fridays.

Gilberth's

Initially planning on going to the new Long Bridge Pizza, we realized it was closed for lunch so we walked down the block to find somewhere else to eat and stumbled into Gilberth's. From the outside, it appeared to be a take-out restaurant as the line was out the door and all you could really see were people ordering their food. As we ventured into the restaurant, we found that there was a dining room complete with a communal table and all.

Lomito Saltado

It was love at first bite. Ever since I tried Sanguchon's Lomo Saltado, I've been ordering it wherever I found it. It was definitely not a bad decision today since this dish from Gilberth's just increased my love for the dish so much more. The sauce was impeccable with the steamed rice, beef, and onions that I was able to finish the entire plate (with the slightest bit of help), which is quite impressive for me. I honestly cannot wait to have this again although I do have to mention that the fries were a bit too dense and heavy on the starchy side for me. Other than that, I have nothing close to a complaint.

Park + Coffee

Free People Cardigan, UO Jeans and Boots

Upped early on this past weekend to see the gorgeous view of the city from Bernal Heights Park. We also walked around the area near the park and I loved the vibe. It felt like I was travelling off somewhere far, a feeling I love when I know I am not far from home at all. Can't wait to return to this neighborhood!

Spring Into Whites

Lucky Brand Tee, American Eagle Jeans

I wore this all white ensemble for cooling effects as the weather was still up for the start of spring. I've been loving all-white outfits because they look so put together with minimal effort. Just throw on a white tee, jeans, and pair of shoes and you're good to go. I went with my almost-opaque white linen top since it is slightly cropped and hits just the right length on me with these slightly tribal embroidered jeans that I cuffed up. I kept it simple with no accessories other than my Michael Kors watch which I wear religiously. On a different note, I found out yesterday that I might be going to Coachella for the first time! I mean it was the International Day of Happiness yesterday and happy I was.

Berry Creek

A few friends and I took a day trip down to Big Basin Redwoods State Park for a hike to see Berry Creek Falls. The hike was about 11 miles which took us 6 hours to complete. Needless to say, we were pretty exhausted by the end, but being able to see 4 waterfalls and actually climb right next to one made the hike worth every moment.

Denim Wasted

UO Silk Dress, BCBG Denim Shirt

For a day out in the city, I went with this sleeveless button up shirt dress since the weather has shot up nearly to 80 degrees lately. I tied a denim shirt around my waist to add color and texture to this otherwise simple dress. And of course it comes in handy if it does get cooler later in the day. I've learned to always be prepared and wear layers ever since I was young because you never know when the weather can change on you. And lastly for shoes, I slipped on my Chucks for a sportier look.

I've enjoyed seeing sportswear dressed up lately since it makes me feel motivated to exercise and stay fit. As a result, I just signed myself up for a piloxing class, which is a hybrid between pilates and boxing. I am excited since I haven't boxed in a while and anyways, who doesn't enjoy having a strong core?

Straw

Sweet Tots and Fried Chicken-n-Waffle Monte Cristo

If you're into carnivals, this is the perfect little spot for you and your friends. The restaurant has a carnival theme throughout, Tilt-o-Whirl booth included. They even give you goldfishes instead of your typical bread before your meal and use storybooks for menus, talk about nostalgia. But even if you're not into carnivals, the food is well worth the trip.

An order of the chicken and waffle sandwich comes with a side of chips, salad, or sweet potato tots. I chose the sweet tots with blackberry barbecue sauce to try something new. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This is a dream for sweet potato lovers. On the other hand, I wasn't too much a fan of the blackberry part of the sauce but these tots were amazing without it anyways.

As for the sandwich, there were fried chicken strips, raspberry jam, and a slice of swiss between two halves of their belgian waffles top with powdered sugar (syrup on the side). The raspberry jam was probably my favorite part since I love raspberries and it added sweetness to a usually savory combination. Since the jam was included in the sandwich, I skipped the syrup so I wouldn't end up with a sugar high after lunch, which is perfectly fine if you're into that. But do come and try this cute restaurant located in the heart of Hayes Valley. I can't wait to try other selections on the menu and perhaps their brunch too!

My Boyfriend Sent Me Some Love

Sisley Boyfriend Jeans

These boyfriend jeans are the perfect shade and have just the right amount of distress. They are so versatile for dressing up or down. Today I went out for lunch with some friends so I paired them with a basic creme thermal under an oversized sweater. The jeans and the nude pink sweater are good transition pieces from winter to spring incorporating brighter pastel colors instead of your typical grey/black winter color scheme. And as I ran out the door, I tossed on my trusty circle scarf since I thought the outfit was missing a little something.

Plaid Up

Vest - The North Face, Plaid - UO, Skinnies - The Gap, Boots - Topshop, Paper Bag Clutch - actually fish I just bought and decided to take my photos with shhh

For a while I've been neglecting this plaid shirt for various reasons including the fact that I have worn it way too much and that I didn't know other ways to wear it. I decided to give it another try today and found that layering it with a vest lets the plaid pop from the outfit yet it's still subtle. With that, I threw on a basic white tee under and paired it with black pants and boots. I love wearing my black pants and boots together because wearing the same colored pants and shoes can really elongate the legs. This outfit was perfect for this gloomy day since my down vest kept me warm and it's very fuss-free which I enjoy in any outfit.
